THE day has come for change!

O boy! Well I made the decision to quit smoking yesterday. I feel good. kinda. I am like 10 hour in not smoking and I really think about smoking. I am pretty bullheaded but right now I am a bit bitchy but 10 hours healthier. I got up today and was going to ride my bike but I didn't have enough time. Instead I went for a walk and run.
Well everyone wish me luck on not smoking. I am going to really train hard and exercise to replace the amount of cigarettes I smoked. THATS ALOT OF CIGARETTES! so I will be getting fit too!
YAY ! More to come!

Beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Hey all!
Well Today was a great day for a ride. I really needed to get on my bike since this weekend was a bit short lived with no training. So Today, yesterday, I went for a ride. I know its like 3 am and I am a bit tired I just got off work and well I need to go to bed soon, but not before I tell you all about it. So I woke up on Tuesday morning about 830am. The sun was out, and it was starting to get warm. Ray, Derek, and I all got on the bikes and started to ride. I have video that I will load up tomorrow. Also some pictures too! My goal for the day was 20 miles. We started from my house went up Beverly which is a hill and then to my favorite part of the hill the down side of a hill. It was awesome. Although I felt bad for Ray since he was riding on a mountain bike, but he did it ! He busted it out. We rode up to pioneer and took the flat 5 mile bike trail in whittier ended up at Mills and Lambert. Then we went to the bike shop put some air in the tires. I really need to get a stand bike pump... One day. Well we went there saw our friend Toni at her job going to lunch said our hellos and goodbyes and kept trucking. By this time we were alittle more that half way through the ride. We took Whittier back to Mills and to the bike path for another 5 miles. We came back up to the mid way of the bike path and then back home. It felt so good to be on my bike. At first I was a little sluggish but I was really glad that I got to ride with my friends. I think it is becoming infectious! Also I have to give a shot out to my homie Jose who took me on my Day 1 training which was 17.6 I think miles. I had such a blast and there will be more toof those rides too. Jose is pretty hard core so I know I will be training nice and tough. Anyhoo. We kept hydrated and took in the nice day. Warm sunny weather was totally welcomed. I said my hellos to the passbyers and then sped off. Total we ended up doing 20.7 miles today just .7 miles more than my goal ok so my next goal is to do 20 in less that 3 hours. Oh we started at 10 and ended at 1. So that was 3 hours. I am hoping to finish 20 miles in 2 hours or 2 an a half hours. We shall see. Once we got home the battery was dead for the camera and we had to postpone the ride in and video cam my ending. Plus ray made it .8 short of the house so I had to pick him up. Perfect amount of time for the camera to charge just enough to do one photo. I had a blast. I also want to get some more gear for a shop or maybe even eBay. After the long and enduring ride we all went to eat the salad bar at marie calendars... YUM! GREAT DAY ! I cant wait to do it again ! Games coming up soon. Oh and I am thinking of taking my ride from work which is in echo park to my house which is 17.9 miles. totally do-able, but it will be during traffic times. See how it goes and thanks for supporting me.
Love

I was up and then it was raining!

Good Morning all....
So I was up early. Well Not that early 8. I woke up sore.. for some manual labor yesterday, and from light riding and jogging yesterday. Most of all I woke up to the rain pounding on the roof and everything else. I know I said I would getting into some harsh cycling training.... but for right now I am not going out in the rain. :( I wish I could. But I am working up to that endurance. Well more to come. I think I am going to just relax for the day and then start up again next weekend.
Thanks again all
Much love
Erik

Like I promised!

Hey Guys,
OK So today was a bit challenging because I was really tired. I am totally not a morning person. I fell short on my ride today. I only cycled for about 5 miles. Nothing big. I think the biggest challenge was getting up at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning. The Sky was gray and it was really cold in the morning. My partner Chet went on the ride with me. He is a beginner so we decided to do something simple. 5 miles was a lot for him. Which is great I am excited that he is starting to train with me and that we can do it together! However, I was freezing this morning! I mean freezing! I know that spandex it supposed to be comfortable but damn I was chilling. I rode long enough to at least get warm and stay warm. That was great. Our route today was the Whittier Bike Trail. We started at my house and went down Penn to the trail and the took it up, and back down. The 5.6 miles took about an hour. Greeted lots of people jogging on the way. I even raced a bunch of kids. They were cool. It was a great chance to reflect on Camp and re-dedicate myself to my goal to help fund camp to keep it going. Chet was wearing my Oscar Jersey. That is my favorite Jersey in fact it is well my only one. I need to buy some new gear. Well here is a video before the ride and a video after. There are some pictures of the in between. Thanks for your support again and keep tabs on my. I may make games out of it. Like Guess where I am! Ooh I think that will be fun! Games to come up soon!

Week 2!

OK so I know that I have been getting really excited. I have been encouraging everyone to join in on the ride whether it is just helping out the ride or if it is riding themselves. Even better riding with me! So I am planning on riding this Sat. 3/21/09 and also Sunday. I am not sure how I am going to keep track of the miles. We will see. I am planning to ride 50 miles on Sat and maybe a shorter ride on Sun.
Also I am going to be a wonder event for the ride. For people to come out and donate for my cause and also get a show and fun out of it! Look for more info later.
The event is called "Serve it Well!" With bands like Beatmo and Hollyboots, and hosted by the remarkable Barbie Q! Check them out on myspace.
I will get everyone more info on it later.
So This week I will be having some pictures and also my first video explaining why I am doing what I am doing Plus I think videos are fun, not only for you but for me!
So tell everyone... friends family to please support this great cause.
Love ya all
